Who Was Henrik?
Henrik Ekelund, affectionately known as "Henke," was a remarkable young boy from Malmö who faced extraordinary challenges with incredible courage. Diagnosed with cancer at the age of two, Henke endured nearly six years of treatments and hospital stays. His resilience and positive spirit earned him the nickname "Superman" from the medical staff at Lund's pediatric hospital. Tragically, Henke passed away at the age of seven in November 2005.
The Mission of Stiftelsen Henrik Superman
In honor of Henke's memory, friends and family established Stiftelsen Henrik Superman. The foundation is dedicated to fulfilling the dreams and wishes of children battling cancer, providing them with moments of joy and normalcy during challenging times. Through donations from individuals and businesses, the foundation grants requests ranging from toys and electronics to experiences and support for families.
